The storyteller

Stories born from real childhood wonder

Every Emma Stories book begins with the curiosity I carried as a child: puddles worth studying, small adventures in the backyard, and the feeling that everyday things hold secret worlds. I write and illustrate picture books that hold on to that wonder.

My stories lean on gentle humor, memorable friendships, and watercolor worlds bright enough to linger in a little reader's mind long after the last page.

From sketch to page

The craft behind every book

Each book starts as rough thumbnail drawings, quick loose sketches that find the rhythm of the story page by page. I test layouts, rearrange scenes, and let the characters settle before anything gets painted.

Final illustrations are built in layers of soft watercolor and bright accents of pink, yellow, and sky blue. Every page is written to be read aloud, so the words and pictures move together at story-time pace.

Why picture books

Picture books help little minds grow big imaginations, one page turn at a time.— Emma Stories
